Red Sox Hire New Manager

  • Red Sox have hired John Farrell, formerly with the Blue Jays, as the new manager. 
  • In a press conference, Farrell made it known that (1) he has wanted the job for a while, (2) the team will be aggressive in all corners of the field, (3) he is in charge and the players will be held accountable. Farrell noted that team staff is still in the acquisition phase.
  • Farrell was a Red Sox pitching coach, under former Manager Terry Francona, from 2006-2010. 
  • Prior to managing, Farrell was a Pitcher with the Cleveland Indians, California Angels, and Detroit Tigers.
